Looking to purchase a home, "Tis might be the Season".
According to a CNN/Money story, "Year in and year out, the real estate market begins to slow after Halloween, drops off drastically a week or two before Thanksgiving and doesn't start picking up again until after Super Bowl Sunday in late January."
Even in recent 'bubble years' this trend has continued. Between December 2003 and January 2004, existing home sales were down nearly 31 percent, according to the National Association of Realtors.
Aside from the fact that less people are looking to buy during the busy holidays, real estate agents typicaly have more time to spend with customers. Additionally, because there are less buyers, there are less bids.
So this holiday season might provide the opportunity to focus on the best gift of all, a home of your own.
